Sage Pastel and The Business of Design…
Steven Cohen, MD of Sage Pastel Accounting, discusses Sage Pastel Accounting’s initiative to help Design and other Creative businesses…
In a nutshell, Sage Pastel has a product that assists Design businesses in keeping track of their finances – to avoid the legendary financial messes that creatively led businesses can sometimes find themselves in. “The last thing creative people normally consider are bank statements, financials, or cash flow,” says Cohen. He continues that small businesses are easy to manage from a financial perspective, but with growth comes the potential for financial complication and anxiety, if finances aren’t correctly managed.
Sage Pastel Accounting is an online accounting solution “…that takes care of costs coming into the business, salaries that you are paying out, and generates professional looking invoices,” explains Cohen.
An accounting solution that a designer can navigate?
Pastel Accounting went back to the drawing board to rewrite this product from scratch to incorporate the tools that the internet offers. Cohen explains that “…25 years ago you could say to people that you need to have an accountant to operate this software, whereas today the pressure is on… if somebody can’t use your software then they will say that it actually isn’t good enough. So the challenge is to create and design software that anyone can use.” The product is designed with colourful, easy to understand dashboards and uses basic english terms avoiding accounting jargon.
The web-based solution is also easily accessible from Android, Windows, and iPhone/iPad devices, which allows for increased flexibility in growing design businesses.
